My name is Mikhail Thiessen, also know as Mik, Malabo Mik and MAD T; and I am a queer artist of physical and digital media living, working, and playing on Treaty 7 land in the foothills of Alberta, Canada.

I am non-binary/gender fluid, so I prefer they/them pronouns or any set of gender nonconforming pronouns by default and he/him and she/her when I am on the gender binary scale.

I am also proud to say that I am Pansexual. I am fine with Bisexual, cause I see it as the umbrella term for any multigender sexuality’s.

and I am Christian. And as a Christian, it is my duty to give True Love and Acceptance. Acceptance of any sexuality, gender, culture and religion. after all, it never was and never will be my place to tell anyone what to believe. I will always try to make the world a place of true acceptance.

The Man, The Myth, The Artist….

I started my artistic journey sketch work and acrylic. using crayons, markers, pens and paints with my body the canvas more often then not. Never saw the point in using paper when my arm is right there.

At some point I began to try out new art tools as they came into my life. watercolor, soft pastels, charcoal, and fine liners are the ones I remember playing with first. this was also around the same time that I began my anime phase., which has yet to end. the shows I watched inspired me to make my own characters and convoluted stories. which leads to my more recent works.

most of my recent work is done digitally which is strange to me because I always said it would be too hard, too expensive, too confusing, etc.. yeah that wasn’t true and the moment i found out about IBIS Studio x, it was a game changer. for 2 years it was basically all i did; using my tablet and a cheap stylist.

and now i am trying everything. If you can name it. I am happy to do any type of art, physical, cartoony, realistic, fuzzy, and more!

Why the Zombie Royal Court? and Where did The Great Undead Rainbow Empire come From?

To answer the first, Formally my go-to was Zombie Unicorn Princess (still visible in my Instagram handle) but Princess no longer fits. After all, I am the sovereign Leader of The Great Undead Rainbow Empire. So rather than being ditched altogether, my handle has evolved from Princess to Royalty.

As for The Great Undead Rainbow Empire… we are a proud and very gay empire; made up of mostly unicorns, leprechauns, dragons, and such. it is full of colour and pride. as for the undead….

…It is based off of a old tale. A tale of Five Kingdoms, a great and terrible power, and 3 lovers who wished to never part. It is the tale that told to travelers to explain the many crypts. It tale so entrenched in our history that it is become a Legend. Some say that to this day you can hear the screams of the dead, returning to life once more.

Of course that’s all a ploy to scare children from running off and nothing more….

Treaty 7 Land

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, I honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. I acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, I acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.
